Features to look out for
When searching for hire boats on the Norfolk Broads, it’s often helpful to use the search filters we have added to the website to find the boats with the features you need. Here are some of the key features to consider.
Bow Thrusters, these devices are fitted to the front of the boat and have buttons or a joystick to make steering and manoeuvring the boat much easier in restricted spaces, such as when mooring.
Electric Anchor Winches are ideal when mooring in open water as it saves the need to pull the anchor up by hand, making it cleaner, safer and much less effort.
Dual Steering Arrangements, the smaller boats often have just one steering and control location, typically inside the boat. However, larger boats often have dual cockpits, with one being at a greater height and less enclosed, ideal for seeing over the reeds and for taking in the entire vista of the Norfolk Broads, but maybe too tall for some of the bridges.
Single Level Boats are ideal for those with limited mobility, particularly for using steps. These boats also tend to be lower, which means they can navigate a greater area of the boards as they can go under many low bridges.
