CURLEW

Curlew was new to our fleet in 2021.  We purchased her from another boatyard.   Previous hirers have found her to be very comfortable and easy to handle.

She’s built by Haines Marine a well-known boating manufacturer.  And she still shows her pedigree, with larger than usual cabins and saloon
Her layout makes her popular with families  (You can make the front cabin up as 2 singles or a double bed).

Both cabins are ensuite. Rare in one of our No Frills boats.

No need to worry about what the British weather throws at you on this boat. Brinks Curlews’ dual steering position gives you options inside and out

It also provides great visibility across the broads. so don’t forget to pack your camera

Note: Norfolk has the lowest rainfall of any county in the UK

It’s worth pointing out that you need to be quite nimble to get up to and down quite a few steps though

Note Carefully: Curlew is a tall boat, and will not go under the bridges at Wroxham, Ludham, Potter Heigham or Great Yarmouth. This reduces your cruising area

We think it’s well worth hiring Brinks Curlew on the Norfolk Broads for a short break.

Frequently Asked Questions

No, you don’t need to have any experience or special licences to hire a Broads Cruiser. On arrival, we will give you a full demonstration of how to use, drive and moor the boat. You will also receive videos of how to handle a boat before you arrive.

We provide a manual (electronically and in hard copy onboard) to help you enjoy your holiday.

Our experienced crew will be happy to answer your questions before you leave the yard.

We would recommend at least one member of your crew have good mobility for moving about the deck and mooring.

On arrival at the boatyard, find yourself a temporary parking space outside reception.

A member of our team will direct you to your boat, getting your car as near as possible to the boat so you can unpack

Once you are ready, make your way back to reception with your car keys and paperwork for check-in.

We’ll book you in for your trial run at that point. We customise your tuition to suit your needs.

If the boat is not quite ready, we’ll take your mobile telephone number and contact you as soon as you can go onboard.

Boats will usually be available between 2 and 4 pm. We need them back at 9 am on your day of departure.

Some will be available earlier, but we can’t guarantee which boats will be ready early.

Each boat is
Pumped out (sewage removed from toilet tanks)
Filled up with fuel and water
Serviced by both the engineers and boat builders
Cleaned inside and out
Inspected by our head cleaner

We’re never quite sure what we will find when the boats return, which is why we don’t give you an exact pick-up time.
Yes, please give us a ring to let us know, and we’ll let you know where your boat is so you can go onboard when you arrive. We usually move the boat to just outside reception, so it’s easy to find.

In the morning, we will go through the check-in and trial run with you.

For safety reasons, you must not take the boat out of the yard until you have had a trial run.

Yes, by 9 am please, ready for our staff to get on board and sort her out for the next customers.

"Fantastic Holiday on Brinks Rhapsody 3 – Would Absolutely Book Again! We’ve just returned from a brilliant week on the Norfolk Broads, having hired a boat through Barnes Brinkcraft. From start to finish, the experience was excellent. Check-in was smooth and stress-free. The staff were friendly, efficient, and helpful. We had a minor issue where we needed to take our car to do a food shop before setting off, but the office would be closed by the time we returned. The team provided a simple and flexible solution without any fuss; a great start to our trip. The boat handover was also excellent. As we’ve been on boats before, the staff member tailored the handover to focus on the areas we wanted a refresher on but still checked our understanding of the key elements. Brinks Rhapsody 3 itself was lovely. It was very clean, and while there was some general wear and tear, it was nothing unexpected for a boat that’s clearly been well-used and well-loved over the years. The bathroom with the shower cubicle was outstanding, plenty of water pressure and lovely hot water. Just be sure to run the generator for a while beforehand or shower after your first stop of the day. The kitchen was a good size and had everything you could need, though a cover for the shallow sink would have added a bit of extra surface space. The hob worked well once we got used to the heat settings, and the oven was spotless. That said, we had to keep an eye on things as the thermostat may have been a bit off; not a major issue unless cooking something for a long time. A big highlight was the Wi-Fi – it worked flawlessly the entire holiday. We brought our Firestick along and had a solid connection throughout. On our last trip with a different boat, we had no usable Wi-Fi at all, so this was a very welcome upgrade. The bedrooms were all spacious with plenty of storage. The beds were a little on the firmer side, but I slept better than I have in a long time, every night was a great night’s sleep. Operating the boat was very easy, and the bow thrusters made mooring much less stressful. The hybrid engine was a fantastic feature; it made cruising the Broads peaceful and relaxing, and we’d definitely seek out another hybrid boat in the future. Would we stay on Brinks Rhapsody 3 again? Absolutely. We loved every second of it and are already thinking about our next trip!"
