Fishing holidays on the Norfolk Broads

Fancy a Fishing Holiday? Here’s Why the Norfolk Broads Should Be Your Next Trip

If you’re the kind of person who finds peace with a rod in hand and the sound of water gently lapping around you, you’ll feel right at home on the Norfolk Broads. Whether you’re chasing that elusive Pike or just looking to unwind with a few days of relaxed Roach fishing, we’ve got just the thing for you.

Time to blow our own trumpet!!  We’ve been helping people enjoy The Broads for decades and we know a thing or two about what makes a great fishing holiday. So if you’re thinking about combining your love of angling with a relaxing break, read on.

Why the Broads?

The Norfolk Broads are one of the best spots for coarse fishing in the UK. With a unique mix of rivers, lakes, and reed-fringed waterways packed with a variety of fish like Perch, Bream, Carp, Tench, Roach, Rudd and most famously of all, Pike.

Please note, Pike are sensitive, especially in warm weather or post-spawning. It is recommended to use strong tackle, unhook carefully, and release them quickly to avoid stress or harm. It is also recommended to avoid pike fishing in peak summer and in hot weather, to protect the species.

It’s quiet, it’s beautiful, and it’s got fish—what more could you ask for?

Fishing From a Boat? We’ve Got You Covered

There’s something special about casting off from your own boat. We’ve picked out a range of holiday cruisers that are ideal for fishing from—plenty of deck space, easy access to the water, and just the right setup to make your fishing as fuss-free as possible.

You can moor up in a quiet spot, drop a line over the side, and soak in the peace and quiet. No traffic, no to-do lists—just you, the water, and hopefully a few bites.

 Prefer to Stay on Shore?

We also have lovely waterside cottages, perfect if you’d rather fish from dry land. Many have private moorings or riverside access, so you won’t have to wander far to start fishing.  Take a look at our favourite cottages for fishing on the website

A Quick Note About Licences

We don’t want to get too serious—but there are a few rules you need to know:

  • Coarse fishing season runs from 16th June to 14th March.

  • You’ll need a rod licence from the Environment Agency for each adult fishing.

    • 1 day: £6

    • 8 days: £12

    • 12 months: £30

Kids under 13? No licence needed.
Aged 13–16? They’ll need a free junior licence (yep—still free, but they’ve got to have one).

You can get your licence online or at the post office. Just a heads-up—having a licence doesn’t mean you can fish anywhere. Some spots are private or run by angling clubs, but they often offer day passes for a small fee.

Bring Your Gear—or Buy It Here

You’re welcome to bring your own tackle, but if you’d rather travel light, there are a couple of great local shops just minutes from our boatyard:

They’ll sort you out with everything from rods and bait to handy local tips on where the fish are biting. Pop in for a chat—fishing advice is often better than anything you’ll find online.
