Norfolk Broads Events – May & June

Saturday 5th to Sunday 20th May Broads Outdoor Festival, two weeks on non-stop fun with over 100 events to try at locations all over the Broads.

BeWILDerwood – Treehouse Adventure park

 

 

 

 

 

Saturday 5th – Monday 7th May – Minty’s Whizzy Windmill Garden, BeWILDerwood, Horning 10.00am – 5.30pm.  Help Minty, the littlest Crocklebog in BeWILDerwood, create a charmingly gorgeous garden by making whizzy windmill flowers, how lovely!  Normal admission fees apply.  Free parking or moor at Horning village staithe and walk  (approx 15 mins)

Saturday 12th MaySpring Plant Fair at Fairhaven Woodland Gardens, South Walsham  10.00am – 2.00pm.  An opportunity to buy new and unusual varieties of plants with expert advice.  Free parking or moor at South Walsham and walk to Fairhaven  (approx 10 mins)

Sunday 13th May – Thurne Windpump Open Day, Thurne  1.00pm – 4.00pm.  Open to visitors and wind permitting the sails will be turning.  A unique opportunity to experience first hand the workings of the mill. Free parking in the village at the staithe by the Lion Inn or moor at Thurne Dyke.

Wednesday 16th May – Ghost Walk at Fairhaven Woodland Gardens, South Walsham at 6.30pm.  Enjoy a spine-tingling walk through the woods listening to the myths and legends of the Fairhaven Garden.  Free with garden entry. £5.50 adult; £5 conc.; £3 child; under 5s free; dogs 25p. Free parking or moor at South Walsham and walk to Fairhaven  (approx 10 mins)

Fairhaven Woodland & Water Garden

Saturday 19th May – Full day art workshop at Fairhaven Woodland Gardens, South Walsham from 10.00am – 4.00pm.  Workshop in the garden with one hour demonstration followed by group tuition, led by professional artist Rachel Thomas.  Includes tea/coffee and biscuits and a light lunch. Please bring your own art materials. Booking only event.

Friday 1st to Monday 4th JuneLudham’s Jubilee Celebration Weekend – events all weekend, starting with a film show on Friday 1st in the Church Rooms starting at 7.30pm, Saturday 2nd ‘Best dressed King & Queen’ competition at the village hall, Sunday 3rd is a Street Party from 4.00pm – 7.00pm with live music & entertainment, Monday 4th Family Fun Day from 2.00 – 4.00pm in the village hall with a Jubilee Beacon Bonfire at How Hill at 8.30pm  For more details call 01692 678672 – all welcome.  Mooring at Ludham Staithe or parking in the village.

Wherry Albion – Traditional Norfolk Broads sailing trading barge

Tuesday 5th JuneWherry Albion will be moored in Potter Heigham for a free tour from 10.00am – 4.00pm.  The Albion is a national treasure, built specifically as a sailing trading Barge for the Broads, she is now 114 years old and a member of the National Historic Ships.  Moor at Potter Heigham or pay and display parking opposite Lathams.

 

 

Wednesday 6th, 13th, 20th & 27th June – Ant Valley Walk – A circular walk taking you to St Benet’s Abbey  or to How Hill taking in Toad Hole Cottage Museum.  Suitable for beginners – approx 3 miles.  Under 16’s must be accompanied and permission must be requested to bring dogs.  Meet at Ludham Bridge Shop, free to participate, call David Splitt  07880 928712 for more details.  Moor at Ludham Bridge or limited parking on A1062 just before bridge.
